Guidelines To Stay Healthy and Avoid Cancer

Among the most devastating illnesses anyone of us or our loved ones can face is cancer. It is something that we will never ever want to have anything to do with in our lives whether it's brought about by our genes or lifestyle. This can affect us physically, emotionally and spiritually. There are victims who are able to handle their conditions well, but most will usually start questioning their very existence. Questions like, why me or why does this have to happen are expected from those who have yet so much to do in their lives, only to be faced with a disease that can very easily take away everything they have worked so hard for. While we cannot do something about our genes, we can always change our lifestyle in order to veer away from this disease or improving our current situation if we already have it.

Diet is always the number one factor when it comes to preventing cancer through lifestyle changes. This will mean eating less of food that are believed to promote cancer and more of those that fight it. We should learn to avoid meats such as pork, beef and chicken. It is a known fact that these foods create highly acidic cellular environments which will not be good for someone who is trying to prevent or control cancerous cells. We should do everything we can to be able to limit our intake of these foods.

Conversely, what we should learn to eat more of are fruits and vegetables, especially those with proven anti-cancer benefits. Broccoli is one of the most popular among these anti-cancer vegetables, along with those in the cruciferous family such as cabbage. Drinking red wine before meals is something we could start making a habit of. The grapes used for this wine have high resveratrol content which is another known anti-cancer nutrient. Fruits and vegetables are always our best friends when it comes to prevention of cancer and even other diseases and conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, etc.

Because we know that most lifestyle-related cancers come from what we eat, it is important that we also make it a habit to cleanse our colons simply by drinking more water. Ten to twelve glasses everyday is the recommended normal water intake, but for those who would like to arm themselves with greater protection against cancer, more than this could be needed. We may have to make more frequent trips to the bathroom, but definitely, this is so much better than having to make those trips to the doctor or a chemotherapy session.

And then, there's exercise which is one of the best ways to keep our bodies healthy. When we exercise, we improve our blood circulation and circulatory functions and this allows us to get rid of toxins in our bodies. As we detoxify regularly, we can expect to reduce our risks of developing cancer or any other disease we may be faced with. "
